An international virtual roundtable "STEEL UNIVERSITIES" was held at Uzhhorod National University

On March 6, 2026, the International Virtual Roundtable “Sustainable Universities” was held at Uzhhorod National University , organized as part of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Action and Awareness Week 2026, which took place from March 2 to 6. The initiator of this international week is the University Global Coalition in partnership with the United Nations Academic Impact .

Uzhhorod National University joined this international initiative as a member of the University Global Coalition . The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students, faculty, and staff of higher education institutions, as well as to develop a practical understanding of how sustainable development principles can be integrated into the educational, scientific, and managerial activities of universities.

The aim of the international roundtable was to deepen the understanding of the role of the Sustainable Development Goals in higher education in Ukraine and the world. The event became an interactive platform for the exchange of experience between teachers, researchers and university staff, as well as for discussing current challenges and finding innovative approaches to strengthening the sustainability and institutional resilience of universities, especially in times of crisis and war. The event was attended by students of bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs, postgraduate students, young scientists, teachers and representatives of scientific institutions.

The separate attention was dedicated to the Re-Direction project and its impact on sustainability as well as digital transformation and inclusivity aspects. The focus was on the importance of the project in dealing with the long-term and day-to-day challenges related to sustainable development. The short-term courses were also mentioned which are being implemented on the MOOC eLearning platform created in the frames of the Re-Direction project.
