On June 28, 2024, Georgian International University GIU and the Inclusive Education Development Center organized a conference called Paradigms of Inclusive Education. The essence of the aforementioned conference is in line with one of the priorities of the Erasmus+ CBHE project RE-DIRECTION - inclusivity. That’s why, the Re-Direction project, including especially its inclusivity part activities, was introduced to the participants of the conference by Associate Professor Grigol Kalandadze, Head of the Department of International Relations of GIU as well as Project Manager of the RE-Direction project, in the introductory part of the event.
Any person, who is employed in the field of inclusive education, works on scientific research issues in this field and/or is willing to share his/her experience with the society, was able to participate in the conference.
For the majority of people, inclusive education is associated only with the full participation of persons with disabilities in public life. In fact, inclusivity is a broader concept and implies not only the inclusion of people with a certain diagnosis or development aspects in different areas of life, but it can also refer to cultural differences and consideration of peers with different ethnic or religious origins, views and values in daily activities.
Conference participants presented interesting reports on the following topics: the importance of introducing and considering inclusive education in early childhood; factors influencing the early development of a child, etc. There was discussion and sharing of opinions. In the end, bilingual certificates were given to the conference participants.
