"Digital Safety and Security Awareness" course by Caucasus University

Professor Maksim Iavich, representing Caucasus University, has successfully created a new academic course titled “Digital Safety and Security Awareness” within the framework of the RE-DIRECTION project. This module is designed to equip students with essential digital skills for personal protection, cyber threat mitigation, and ethical online engagement.

The course meets the latest European standards, aligning with both the DigComp 2.2 digital competence framework and GDPR regulations, and directly responds to the growing demand for digital literacy in academic and labor market contexts.

The Course Includes:
• Six progressive sections, covering cybersecurity fundamentals, online privacy, cyber threat recognition, ethical and legal principles, and real-world application of safety practices.
• Original content: carefully developed quizzes, case studies, team-based assignments, and student presentations designed to enhance applied learning and collaboration.
• Focus on critical thinking, teamwork, and responsible digital behavior.

The course covers:
• Password security, two-factor authentication, device and network protection
• Privacy settings, data collection awareness, and personal information control
• Detecting and responding to phishing, ransomware, and social engineering
• Understanding intellectual property rights and cybercrime laws
• Applying digital safety in daily life, including secure browsing and digital well-being

This course is a vital contribution to the RE-DIRECTION project’s mission of modernizing ICT education. It empowers students to safely and confidently navigate digital environments, while fostering awareness of ethical responsibilities in the digital age.
